Kate looked around at her new classmates as soon as she stepped through the door. There was Yugi Moto the Duelist Kingdom champ, and runner up Joey Wheeler. In the back there also was the handsome Seto Kiaba. Nobody else was recognizeble but she could tell that she was going to have a lot of duel monsters challenges.
"Kate is it? Well just pick an empty seat and sit down," the teacher kindly told her "Everyone I expect you to welcome our new student from the United States."
Kate looked around and quickly picked the seat next to Kiaba. She figured that maybe she could get to know him or at least talk to him a bit. Gosh he was gorgeous, a drop dead hunk. I wonder if he has a girlfriend she thought to herself. I hope not because I'll have to kill her!
"Hi, you must be Seto Kiaba," she said " I've heard so much about you, and about how you're one of the best duelists in the world! I'm Kate by the way."
Seto looked up and saw a pretty girl about 16 or 17. She had curly brown hair with red highlights. Her eyes where a light brown with a little bit of green. She had a nice figure and an infectious smile. He smiled slightly. I wonder if she's any good at duel monsters he thought.
"Yes, I'm Seto Kiaba," he started
"and I'm Joey Wheeler!" Joey butted in "I'm sure you've heard of me also."
"Actually, I haven't...who are you again?" Kate said as Kaiba smirked.
"Joey, I was the runner-up at duelist kingdom"
"Oh I remember now! I've kinda heard of you but you're not as famous as Yugi or Kiaba"
"Now if you'll excuse us Wheeler I was talking to Kate so be a good dog and go chase your tail," Kiaba said cooly.
"Kiaba I can talk to Kate too. She's new here so she doesn't know what a jerk you are."
"Fine. Stay. What does it matter. Kate, if you want I can show you around town later," Seto started "We can talk without this idiot hanging around."
"Sure, that would be great, Thanks!"

"Seto I had a wonderful time," Kate said as the limo pulled in front of her mansion.
"I'm glad" Seto replied
There was an awkword silence, in which Kate and Seto just stared into each other's eyes. Then Seto leaned toword her and kissed her gently.
"Good night Kate, I'll see you tommorrow"
"Bye"
Kate walked into her mansion. It was a wonderful night she thought. Seto is such a gentleman. He's also invited me to his house for dinner tommorrow. I can't wait to meet his brother, Seto obviously loves him a lot. During their 'Date' Seto had also asked her to be his girlfriend! She hadn't even had to show off her dueling ability, not that she'd ever be able to beat Seto, but they where impressive. He's so cute and sweet, was her last thought as she drifted off into deep sleep.

The next day at school Kate made sure that she had her deck. It was custom built, since her parents where rich she had bought a lot of cards. She took the best and combined them with magic cards. Although Kate really hoped she didn't have to duel there was always a chance that she might have to.
Walking in the door she waved to Yugi and Joey then walked to her seat. As she started to unpack Tea came over to chat. She hoped to become friends with this strange new girl.
"Hi I'm Tea, I don't think we got a chance to meet yesterday," she started. Then she noticed the duel monsters cards."Do you play Duel Monsters?"
"Um...yes...why?"
"Then maybe we can duel later on, but I warn you...I'm good."
Kate looked up, was Tea serious? Tea wouldn't last too long against her. She smiled slightly, it would be great to show off her talents."Sure that would be great!"
"Hello Kate," Kaiba said coming up behind Tea and going to his seat.
"Bye Kate," Tea said giving Kiaba a disgusted look.
"What's going on?" Kiaba asked Kate
"Well Tea just challenged me to a duel".
"That should be an easy win, for you I mean," Kiaba stated blandly.
"I expected as much"

The duel was short. Kate had pulled a great hand. La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp, Ookazi, Just Desserts, Trap Hole, and Kaiser Dragon. Then she drew a Dragon Treasure. The duel was totally one sided.
"Wow, you're pretty good" Tea said.
"Thanks" Kate said while putting away her cards. As she stood up Kate looked around. She noticed that eeryone had been watching the duel. Seto approched her and put his arm around her waist.
"You were great!" Seto whispered into her ear. "You're so much better than I expected"
"Thanks"
"So are you still coming over tonight?"
"Of course"
Together they walked off to class. But Joey was watching enviously in the shadows. From the moment he saw her he had been in love with Kate. He wished that he was Kiaba, that rich, lucky, fool.
"She could have been mine," he muttered to himself as he also walked to class.
